This book just did not let up, right from the very first page you are thrown into the action and it keeps speeding along, all the way to the cliffhanger ending. It is easy to read and interesting enough that I kept wanting to keep reading.
I liked the world, I liked how bleak everything was, and the magic that corrupts everything it touches, but I feel as though we've only only had a glimpse of how deep the lore of this world can go. I really hope the author does explore it further!
I liked Azzy, for the most part. YA heroines are (unfortunately) a dime a dozen, and while she's definitely not a cookie cutter character I felt like she hasn't really distinguished herself yet. I have high hopes though.
I liked Kai. Angsty, gorgeous, and trying to reconcile the man with the monster. I live for that stuff.
Definitely looking forward to the next book!
